The Growing

In a cocoon
Safe and dry
I wait in numbing thirst

Of something I
Know not what
To wake me from this curse

The darkness now
Sinking in
Victim to unknown fate

But wait! I feel
Open space
And coolness in my crate

I seek blindly
Thrusting down
My feet to better stand

And from my cage
I am free
Reaching up with my hands

Blinded by warmth
As I rise
Gaining height everyday

The curse broken
With the rain
I thrive in Heaven's rays

  1. Wow, I didn't know you wrote poetry. How long did this take you to write? The pace flows smoothly.

    1. Yep, I enjoy writing poetry, but it's somewhat sparatic. Some days I'm just filled with words to be said. This one was actually a forced poem. I wanted to write a poem since I hadn't in a long time and decided to base it off of the garden I planted.... so it took between 20-60 minutes to write (I'm pretty sure it was around the 20 minute mark).
