This week was super quick. Work went great and I'm getting more complements for my weight loss. 179.6 was my lowest this week and here's expecting to be another 1-2 pounds lighter next week.
Tuesday Steven was super sweet to me. First he told me he had a surprise that I'll get this next week (coming week). I have no idea what it will be, but I'm looking forward to it. Then he took me out to eat Pad Thai at Thai 65 in Renton. It's probably my favorite place for Pad Thai right now. And my blood sugar was good in the morning (of course I ate in portion as well as asked for extra chicken with our meal).
Wednesday I harvested some lettuse! One of our romaine plants was rotten(?) or just got broken at the base. But I had to throw it out. But the rest made enough salad for dinner adn my work lunch.
Friday was entertaining. It was Fancy Dress day in the Pre-K room and I wore a skirt and a new top to work. It was fun being complemented on how nice I looked. Soon I realized I wasn't going to be in the Pre-K room though. It was some what of a bummer, but at least I didn't get in trouble for being out of uniform. I am technically a floater still, but I am primarily Infant and Pre-K room now. So I try to keep up with what the calendar is for the Pre-K and have fun with it, but there are days like Friday in which I'm everywhere but in the Pre-K room.
That night I hung out with Jess and Adam. Saw Horton Hears a Who for the first time. Also, I was enjoying one too many goodies that day. I once again expected elevated blood sugar in the morning. Well, lucky me, I had normal levels in the morning :) I think it was 108 at 7:30am. Now I'm being super good again and trying not to let my luck or good health go to my head too much.
Sunday was fun. Steven and I gave the opening and closing prayer in sacrament meeting. Steven also passed the sacrament too. After church we quickly prepared for the guest we were having over that night, the Taylors and the Missionaries. It was suppose to be Star Wars night, but one of our friends couldn't make it, so after enjoying a delicious dinner (in which I used more Romaine leaves for salad), and after the missionaries left, the Taylors, Steven and I sat around chatting. Then the guys left for a preisthood fireside and Annie and I got some bonding time. It was lots of fun being able to enjoy good conversation with them and get lots of laughs out of it too.
Once the guys returned, the Taylors went home and Steven and I crashed (2 hours later).
As for today, I am fasting for a friend (hoping he will continue to grow in the church) and because I have to get my blood drawn today. I'm drinking lots of fluids and here's hoping my test results come back looking worlds better than the first one a month and a half ago.
Take care!

Cheesecake Is Soooo Good
The week was nice. Work has improved to the point I don't feel like I am making stupid, small mistakes accidentally all the time. But twice the boss lady brought in tubs of cookies! I resisted both, but barely. I attempted to hide the second batch by placing them in the cupboard and laid a note out telling everyone where they were since I wanted them out of sight and out of mind. But no, someone took the note away and put the cookies back out for everyone to see (which I felt was really mean). Oh well. I'm glad I had enough self control to resist them.
I've also continued to loose weight. Remember the post 195! Booya!? Well, it's 182 now :D I went and got a new shirt and new a new pair of capri's to celebrate. I'm in a size 12 pants (probably soon gonna be a 10) and a medium shirt in misses. But I think Fred Meyer is playing with my head and labeling the larger close smaller because large at Target was still on the snugger side (no thanks to my chest size). But I'm excited to be loosing weight and here's hoping that I might be able to get down to 150. That I believe will be my ideal weight, but I am not 100% sure since I've never been lighter than 159.
This week Emily graduated from collage. She had her ceremony yesterday and Steven and I (after helping a sister move) went and joined her and my parents for her grad party. Oh man was there good food or what!? Especially the decadent desserts! Huge varieties of cheesecakes and cupcakes, in which 99% all had chocolate. I couldn't resist! I had 2 big bites from Steven's peanut putter cheesecake, a cheesecake on a stick that was dipped in chocolate, a small bite of Rhubarb pie, another big bite of my mother's triple chocolate cheesecake and a good lick of Steven's cherry cupcake frosting. Oh man I was in heaven! Thankfully all that poison didn't kill me but it had me and Steven taking bets as to what my blood sugar was gonna be in the morning (especially since I'm not taking my medicine anymore).
After enjoying good food at the grad party, Steven and I went over to Jessica's to play games and watch a movie. We raced each other on Mario Kart, played rage, ate dinner, and watched Horton hears a who (not quite in that order). It was nice and relaxing, but boy was the drive home long. I was tired. Steven too. But it tis Sunday now and I'm fully rested!
I'm sure you all are wondering what the blood sugar reading was. Well at 6:10 this morning I expected to see 150 on my glucous meter... in stead, to my surprise, I was 98. I was in complete Aw and yet wondering if there was something on my hand that may have thrown the numbers off. So I wash my hands super well, then dried them off and let them set about for a minute and tested again. 104 on the second test. And just in case it decided to go up again I did a third test. 97! So I decided 98 was probably correct then and still couldn't believe after bombarding my body yesterday that I would have this good of a number. I'm thankful to my HF for letting my body heal and I continue to hope that I might beat the diabetes as I strive to eat better.
But here's an interesting note. I track my food on Myfitnesspal.com and I decided I better try and log everything I had yesterday knowing it was probably gonna be 2000+ calories and WAY too many carbs. I have no idea how accurate I logged everything, but according to what the website had, I was still under my calorie intake for the day and my barbs just broke over 100 for the day. It's possible I didn't OD on sweets as bad as I thought, but since I don't have the exact measurements of what I ate, or the nutrition facts for that matter, I am relying on similar recipes in the database for the nutrition info.
Anywho, A huge shout out for our AMAZING Dads, who Steven and I love with all our hearts. Hope you all are enjoying your Father's Day too!

I Won A Gift Basket!
This week was kinda slow, yet really fast.
Wednesday was a bit exciting. I had an impromptu day off due to low numbers at work (children wise). So I set about shopping, doing laundry, exercising, and picking up a giant gift basket that I won! I entered into a raffle by chance. A man had donated money and I was giving him his raffle ticket to fill out but he said I could have it. I thought, 'why not?' and filled the ticket out. Low and behold I won! Now I have some Mary Kay products and a 50$ gift certificate for Mary Kay products. Plus some wine which I gave one bottle away and hanging on to the second in case a good recipe comes along.
Friday, Steven and I had our game night with Jessica and Adam, this time we had my sister, Emily, over and her friends Ann and JJ. I had gotten a new game called Loaded Questions which I thought was really fun with the big group of us.
Yesterday was the Stake Luau/Picnic in which I took Jackie with me and Steven for our get together.
Oh man, despite all the tempting food there, Steven convinced me that if I was good there, I'd get Pad Tai later. So I avoided the cookies, and a tiny scope of potato salad, and avoided everything else filled with carbs. I enjoyed my kalua pig, salads, fruit, and diet soda. Okay, I also had two of my whole wheat cookies. They were tiny and had dark chocolate chunks in them. So a better option compare to the other choices for desserts. It was humoring though to watch a few kids take a handful of my whole wheat cookies. I think they though they were dark in color due to more chocolate. I hope they liked them despite the more bitter taste and texture.
After the Luau, Jackie went home and Steven and I ended up hanging around our place. We were going to do Pad Tai, but with Steven feeling tired and seeming lack luster about the idea, and I feeling tired and knowing I really shouldn't eat Pad Tai yet, opted to stay home. Steven says he owes me, but we'll see if he remembers.
So it's been one whole week of the medication for my diabetes. I've been doing pretty good. today is 111, but I'm happy with that because my numbers have stabilized. earlier in the week it was a roller coaster of a really good number, then a number slightly high, back to a really good number, back to a high number. But the past 3 days have been good: 99, 101, 111. So here's hoping for an easy day of good choices and not self pity of all the bad choices I love and shouldn't eat.
Take care everyone and here's the garden!

Meri, Meri, Quite Contrary...
The garden continues to flourish. Thankfully we've had some good rain so I'm not having to water them every day (which is becoming a chore with all the lugging of water now they are so big). The Marigolds will be blooming any day now and I con't wait for the green beans to get even taller and begin to bloom too. The strawberries have a bunch of green strawberries. I'm hoping they will grow bigger, but it seems like they've stayed the same size and color all week.
Speaking of strawberries, got 4lbs of strawberries for 4 bucks at Fred Meyer yesterday! They have been so good in greek yogurt and sugar free jello.
I've been feeling better. Starting to wonder if my weekend congestion is actually allergies, but I don't know. It could very well be my body is working hard during the week and finally the weekend it can act up and get me to rest before starting the next week. At least I'm not as fatigued as I was last Sunday.
All week my blood sugar has been great! Monday I was 87 and Thursday I was 122, but the rest of the week I was in the 110's.
Yesterday, Steven and I went down to Kent to check out my friend Jessica's new work that opened up. It's called Sweet Themes. I had a little bite of a raspberry tart she made and from the tiny bite, it tasted good :) So those who happen to swing by the Kent Commons, head over to Meeker and 4th (which if south of the commons) and head east on Meeker (for almost a block). Sweet Themes will be on your right. Or check out their page here for an address and to see what they have.
Anywho, 'tis another month. Enjoy your fast Sunday. So far I'm still fasting from last night. I was 114 at 9:30 and at 2:30 96 and still feeling good. Just a few more hours and I'll break my fast with Steven. Of course if I feel funny before then, I'll break my fast early.

Spicy Chicken
This was a recipe I found in a magazine at work. Mainly the recipe was the sauce. It is a jalapeno sauce with garlic, white wine, butter, flour (very little) and beef broth. It was spicy for sure when I sampled the sauce, but with the chicken (and avocado's I threw in to make it prettier) the spice lost some of it's power. And for a cooling factor I made a simple egg salad with ranch dressing and placed it on a romaine leaf. Delish!
